Our July Outing to Roma Street Parklands.
In July, members of the Probus Club of Ipswich took the train down to the Roma Street Parklands to enjoy a couple of hours exploring some of its 16 hectares of gardens and green space. It was a beautiful day for such a jaunt. Before taking to the many pathways, we fortified ourselves with morning tea at the onsite Garden Room Café. There was so much to see.... the Spectacle Garden with it's wonderful display of flowers and subtropical plants, the Rainforest walk, the scenic picnic spots and playgrounds. Water was featured throughout the park along with ducks and water dragons in residence. Those who ventured up to the lookout to see the spectacular city views could also spend a quiet moment among the wartime memorials placed there. We finished the day with lunch at Chez Nous, a café close by the Parkland, before making the return train trip back to Ipswich, tired but happy, having spent a very pleasant day with Probus friends.
